Lindure®

Lindure is Bodycote's proprietary thermo-chemical surface heat treatment generally know as Ferritic Nitrocarburizing. This low temperature, low distortion process is gas based. During the process nitrogen, carbon and oxygen are diffused into the surface of a component forming a single phase epsilon nitride layer called a 'compound zone' and a difussion zone consisting of nitrogen in solid solution.

The process is ideal for thin stampings, gears, bearing components and other parts that are sensative to dimensional movement and require hard wear surfaces. Process temperatures are typically between 1000 F and 1200 F and cycles range from 15 minutes to 5 hours depending on requirements.
